Garowe, Somalia – The Ministry of Finance of Somalia’s newly formed Northeast State has announced the successful candidates from the recently concluded written examination for the position of Budget Officer. Sixteen individuals have advanced to the final stage of the recruitment process, which will include in-depth interviews to determine the top two candidates.
This announcement marks the continuation of a transparent and merit-based three-stage selection process that began with candidate shortlisting, followed by a competitive written exam, and now culminates in final interviews. According to the ministry, this approach reflects its commitment to professionalizing public financial management and ensuring that only the most qualified individuals are entrusted with key fiscal responsibilities.
A ministry spokesperson described the process as “a vital step toward strengthening the State’s economic institutions,” emphasizing that capable budget officers are essential to building trust in public finances and ensuring accountability in government spending.
Once appointed, the two Budget Officers will play a critical role in preparing and managing the State’s financial plans, supporting fiscal discipline, and guiding the ministry’s broader agenda of efficiency and transparency in resource management.
The final interviews are expected to take place in the coming days, with results to be publicly announced soon after.
