MOGADISHU – Likenew Smart Laundry, a Mogadishu-based modern laundry service provider, has launched what it describes as Somalia’s first 24/7 smart locker system for laundry drop-off and collection, aiming to bring greater convenience to customers and reduce barriers related to time and distance.

The service, unveiled on June 25, 2026, allows customers to drop off or pick up their laundry at any time of day or night, without being restricted by branch operating hours or waiting in queues. The company said the system is designed to address the challenges customers face in balancing busy work schedules with accessing quality laundry services.

The smart lockers are equipped with a digital security system, and customers receive a notification via the company’s app and WhatsApp when their laundry is ready, along with a personal PIN for collection. The company said the lockers can be placed in convenient locations far from its main branches, bringing the service closer to customers.

The launch of the smart locker system reflects a broader trend of digital innovation in Somalia’s service sector. The country has been recognised as the world’s top ICT regulatory reformer by the International Telecommunication Union, and has been taking steps to expand its digital infrastructure.

The Federal Government has emphasised that Somalia’s digital future depends on strong collaboration between the government and the private sector. The smart locker system is one example of how private companies are using technology to improve service delivery and customer convenience.

At the launch event, Mohamed Nur Olow, Director General of the Data Protection Authority, commended the company’s modern approach and its protection of customer data. He stated that the locker system and its associated app were designed in compliance with international data privacy standards.
