Ambassador Francisco Madeira, the Head of African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), held a meeting with Tiina Intelmann, the new European Union Ambassador to Somalia.
The meeting between Ambassador Madeira and Ambassador Intelmann took place in Mogadishu on Friday, September 10.
The two diplomats discussed several issues touching on Somalia.
Mostly, they focused on the security situation in the East African nation. They also touched on the Transition Plan.
During their discussions, they also handled the issue of continued EU support to AMISOM.
Ambassador Madeira commended the EU for remaining one of AMISOM’s most crucial partners. He said that the EU has helped AMISOM to pay its troops’ salaries and cover many other expenses.
