Reports indicate that armed villagers fought viciously with Al-Shabaab militants in Central Somalia on Friday.
Villagers in Ba’adweyn attacked members of the Al-Qaeda linked group who were in the region.
An intense gunfight lasting several hours then broke out in the area afterward thus causing around 12 deaths.
According to eyewitnesses, several individuals from both sides were also injured.
Local authorities have launched investigations into the incident. They have also launched a manhunt for the extremists.
The villagers believe that some of the militants could still be in the area.
