Cuba has not given up on its mission of rescuing its doctors who were kidnapped in Kenya by Al-Shabaab.
The Cuban doctors were kidnapped while working in Kenya on April 12, 2019.
They were then transported to Somalia where they reportedly are to this date.
Recently, Jose Angel Portal Miranda, Cuba’s Minister of Health, held discussions on this matter with Mutahi Kagwe, Kenya’s health minister.
The doctors who were kidnapped have been identified as Assel Herrera and Landy Rodriguez Hernandez.
Miranda confirmed that Cuba’s President Miguel Diaz-Canel has discussed the fate of these doctors with his Kenyan and Somali counterparts.
Diaz-Canel spoke with President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya and President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of Somalia to resolve the doctors’ issue.
