President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo addressed the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) via Zoom on September 21, 2021.
Somalia’s outgoing President was one of the key speakers during Tuesday’s session.
During his speech, President Farmaajo spoke of the need for the international community to help the East African nation to recover from its economic crisis.
“Without economic reforms, Somalia would never enjoy sustainable development or recovery.” Farmaajo told the assembly.
He assured the assembly that his administration remains committed to growing the country’s revenue base.
Other priority areas include good governance and strengthening transparency.
The President called for more assistance to enable Somalia to overcome the challenges that COVID-19 has brought to the nation.
Farmaajo reminded the assembly of the havoc that COVID-19 wreaked on different economies globally.
