Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ) blasted the Puntland administration for detaining a journalist illegally.
Abdifatah Jiib, a local journalist who works for STN TV, was arrested for asking the public to express their views about President Said Abdullahi Deni’s recent speech.
Recently, Deni shared details of several conversations he had with President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
Afterward, Jiib asked viewers for their opinion on Deni’s claims.
Immediately thereafter, Jiib was arrested.
Furthermore, the station he works for, STN TV was shut down.
FESOJ called Jiib’s arrest and the subsequent closure of STN TV an illegality that must be rescinded and corrected immediately.
