Gen. Sulub Ahmed is the New Chief of Somali Police Force

General Sulub Ahmed has taken over as the new Somali Police Force (SPF) chief.

The Council of Cabinet voted unanimously to appoint Gen. Ahmed to take over from Gen. Abdi Hassan Hijaar as the new SPF commander.

His appointment was approved on Thursday, January 26.

He takes over from Gen. Hijaar who has been at the helm for the last four years.

The appointment comes at a time when the country is reforming its security and military units ahead of the handover from African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).

Prior to his appointment, Gen. Ahmed had been the federal Deputy Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation.
