Somalia will sign a miraa (khat) agreement with Kenya in May this year.
Mithuka Linturi, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, broke this news on Monday.
Linturi, who hails from Meruc county where miraa is the primary cash crop, said the two nations are ready to sign this agreement.
Specifically, he said the deal would be penned on May 8, 2024.
