Kenyan President Asks Leaders to Tackle Terror Attacks in Northeastern Somalia

Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta has issued a deadline of 14 days to leaders in northeastern Somalia to tackle the issue of terror attacks.

He says the leaders owe it to the region to solve the existing security challenges, which have interfered with several economic activities in the Horn of Africa, including education.

In President Kenyatta’s entourage included several Kenyan leaders. Among them were Governor Ali Roba of Mandera and Governor Ali Korane of Garissa.

Others were Mayor Mohamed Abdi of Wajir Town. Kenya’s parliamentarian, Aden Bare Duale was part of the team that met with their Somalia colleagues to discuss various issues.

Top of the agenda was the question of Al-Shabaab’s involvement in the worsening security situation in the region.

President Kenyatta gave the leaders 14 days to resolve all existing security problems.

He informed the meeting that Kenya would not allow Al-Shabaab to continue carrying out terror attacks in the country, especially the northeastern region.

This meeting came at a time when Al-Shabaab seems to have picked up the pace of its attacks against the northeast region.
