Catriona Laing will complete her assignment in Somalia next month.
Laing has been serving as the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) of the United Nations.
She also doubles as the Head of the UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM).
The SRSG announced her departure on Monday.
She expressed delight at the opportunity accorded to her to serve the UN in the East African nation.
In her press statement, Laing added that she leaves Somalia full of respect and admiration for its people.
Furthermore, she called Somalia a place of hope, friendship, promise, and progress.
Laing vowed to continue supporting Somalia and advocating for its interests wherever she goes to next.
