Moalim Mahdi, the Mogadishu police chief, will be investigated over allegations that he set up several illegal checkpoints in Lower Shabelle.
Residents have regularly complained of harassment from officers manning such checkpoints.
Consequently, the claims against Mahdi have captured the attention of his bosses who ordered immediate investigations into the matter.
