New Somali Police Chief Officially Takes Over

The new Somali Police Force (SPF) chief has officially taken over.

General Sulub Ahmed Firin took over from the outgoing Brig. Gen. Abdi Hassan Mohamed Hijar in a handing-over ceremony on Saturday.

Brig. Gen. Hijar has been at the helm of the police force since 2019.

Deputy Prime Minister Salah Jama presided over the handing-over ceremony. He was in the company of other government dignitaries.

Chief Justice Bashe Yusuf Ahmed, Members of Parliament (MPs), and federal cabinet ministers attended the event too.
