Opposition Presidential Candidates Meet in Mogadishu over Elections Crisis

Opposition presidential candidates held a meeting in Mogadishu to discuss the ongoing elections crisis in Somalia.

The politicians met under the Council of Presidential Candidates’ Union on January 11, 2021 to discuss the latest developments.

Afterward, they said that the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has been mismanaging the electoral process in the East African nation.

Further, they castigated the government for opting to hold the upcoming elections in only a few regions.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble announced that elections would only take place in Galmudug, HirShabelle, Southwest, and Benadir regions.

Puntland and Jubbaland would hold no elections, according to Roble’s statement.
