More than 20 Al-Shabaab militants lost their lives in an operation undertaken in central Hiiraan.
Somali National Army (SNA) troops carried out a counterterrorism offensive against Al-Shabaab fighters in the region early on Sunday.
SNA worked closely with its international partners to launch an airstrike in Ji’ibow village.
Local eyewitnesses confirmed that the militants suffered huge losses in the offensive.
Non-Somalis were among those killed in the airstrike.
Military sources added that the injuries and death toll from the Ji’ibow airstrike dealt Al-Shabaab a significant loss.
