President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud never visited the Israeli capital of Tel Aviv secretly.
Villa Somalia issued a statement on June 24 denying rumors that President Mohamud traveled to Tel Aviv during his recent official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
President Mohamud has been in the UAE for the majority of this week.
He traveled back to Mogadishu on Friday, June 24.
When rumors of his visit to Tel Aviv emerged, Somalis in the country were in an uproar, especially on social media.
The uproar forced Villa Somalia to speak to the media on the issue.
A statement from Villa Somalia not only rubbished the rumors but also clarified that Somalia has no ties with Israel.
