A prominent elder in Somalia succumbed to the deadly COVID-19 disease that has been ravaging the East African nation for the last 12 months.
Ugaas Hassan Ugaas Khalif reportedly died on February 23 while receiving medical treatment for the deadly disease that he had been diagnosed with.
He becomes the latest well-known Somalia in the Horn of Africa nation to lose his life to the deadly disease.
A few weeks ago, Somalia’s Ministry of Health warned that the country was facing a resurgence of the disease.
Consequently, it has warned Somalis to observe the measures put in place to curb the spread of the disease.
Somalia is currently recording hundreds of new cases per day.
The number of deaths has also gone up while recoveries are few and far between thus stretching the few hospitals and medical facilities in the country to their limit.
