Puntland Rejects Invitation to the Upcoming NCC in Mogadishu

Puntland has rejected invitation to the upcoming National Consultative Council (NCC) Summit scheduled for April 20-21 in Mogadishu.

On Wednesday, sources in Puntland indicated that regional President Said Abdullahi Deni would not attend the summit.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud sent out invitations to the presidents of all the Federal Member States (FMS) on Tuesday.

Puntland’s rejection of the invitation does not come as a surprise.

Last month, the regional state vowed not to recognize the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) after parliament approved all amendments to the Provisional Constitution.
