Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) attended a ceremony organized to support the rehabilitation of the Diplomatic Institute in Somalia.
Ahmed Eissa Awad, Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation attended the ceremony. Accompanying him were Hassan bin Hamza Hashim, Qatar’s ambassador to Somalia. Several ministers, parliamentarians, and ambassadors accredited to Somalia were in the entourage together with the chairman and members of the Parliamentary Friendship Committee of Somalia (PFCS).
In his speech, Awad commended the support the government of Qatar continues to extend to Qatar. He stressed that the rehabilitation and the subsequent opening of the institute enhances diplomatic activities in Somalia. It offers a qualitative opportunity for the training of various diplomatic cadres at the ministry in conjunction with brotherly, and friendly nations.
The entire building underwent extensive rehabilitation. Through the recent renovation works, various public as well as private aspects of the project that incorporate multiple facades, units, interior halls, the facility received the much-needed uplift. Furthermore, the infrastructure is in a much better condition. Additionally, the rehabilitation never stopped at the Prime Minister’s Building. Instead, it also covers the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development as well as the build that hosts Mogadishu Municipality.
Currently, QFDD has been implementing multiple development projects around the country. The construction of the 90km road between Mogadishu and Jowhar is one such project with the 22km intersection between Mogadishu and Afgoye the other.
The project forms part of Qatar’s ongoing efforts towards empowering developing nations. Qatar hopes that these projects will stabilize these countries while driving them towards prospective, peace, and justice.
