Somali Parliament Votes in Favor of New Rules for Constitutional Changes

Both chambers of the Somali parliament voted in favor of the new rules for instituting constitutional changes.

Parliamentarians met on Wednesday at the parliament building in Mogadishu to debate the new procedural rules.

According to sources in parliament, 201 of the legislators present in today’s session voted in favor of the new rules.

Speaker Adan Sheikh Madobe of the House of the People (Lower House) confirmed that an overwhelming majority were in favor of the motion.

They all agreed to keep the current constitution provisional until the issues regarding Somaliland’s status are resolved.
