Somalia Reassures the US of Commitment to PFM Reforms

Somalia has reassured the United States of its commitment to public finance management (PFM) reforms.

Dr. Elmi M. Nur, the Minister of Finance, informed Eric Meyer of this when they met on May 26.

Dr. Nur and Meyer, the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the US Department of Treasury, met on the sidelines of the ongoing African Development Bank (AfDB) summit.

They discussed economic reforms in the US too.

Other issues that came up in their discussions include anti-money laundering (AML) and counterterrorism finance (CTF) measures.

The US is one of Somalia’s most important international allies.
