Somalia Receives 1.4 Million Vaccines to Stop Spread of Cholera

Somalia has received 1.4 million vaccines to stop the spread of cholera.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that the country already has the vaccines needed to protect its people.

Since the turn of the year, Somalia has diagnosed over 4,500 people with cholera.

Close to 100 people have lost their lives to the disease.

According to OCHA, the vaccines are crucial especially as Gu rains rock the country bringing intense floods that could increase cholera cases.

OCHA expects the rains to cause floods that affect over 770,000 people in Somalia.
