Somaliland’s Energy Commission (SEC) has blocked the decision by private electricity companies in the country to increase prices.
Recently, the private companies announced their intention to increase the price of a kilowatt of electricity from $0.50 to $0.80.
However, SEC issued a directive blocking the planned price increase.
SEC issued a press statement dated Wednesday, June 1 urging the private electricity companies not to increase the prices.
