President Tsai Ing-wen of Taiwan held a meeting with Somaliland’s Representative to Taiwan on Monday, October 12.
The meeting between President Ing-wen and Mohamed Omar Hagi Mohamoud took place at the Presidential Office in Taipei.
President Ing-wen used the opportunity to welcome Mohamed officially to Taiwan.
Further, she expressed gratitude to the people and government of Somaliland for extending the hand of friendship to Taiwan.
In July, both states agreed to set up Representative Offices in each other’s territory as the first step towards strengthening diplomatic ties between them.
She also appreciated the role Mohamoud has played since arriving in the country in August to help the people of Taiwan to understand Somaliland better.
Ing-wen promised to continue the path of cooperation in various fields such as education, health, and maritime safety.
