Turkey Navy Fleet to be Deployed in Somalia Waters Soon

Turkey will deploy its navy fleet in Somali waters within the next few days.

Reports from Turkey indicate that the European nation is ready to take this measure to support Somalia in the latter’s diplomatic rift with Ethiopia.

On Monday, Ethiopia signed a deal with Somaliland that gives it access to 20km of the latter’s seaport.

Ethiopia’s thirst for direct access to the sea has increased over the last couple of months.

In turn, Ethiopia would grant Somaliland international recognition.

Somalia is unhappy with both aspects of the agreement.

As part of Turkey’s increased support, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia is expected to hold talks with his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
