Twenty People Killed in Galgadud in Inter-Clan Clashes over Grazing Land

Twenty people were killed in inter-clan clashes in Galgadud over grazing land.

Reports indicate that the inter-clan clashes broke out on Sunday, August 28 in the Galgadud district of Dhabad.

Residents reported hearing a heavy exchange of gunfire over the last two days.

Dozens more were injured in the clashes apart from the 20 who lost their lives.

The injured are in nearby hospitals receiving treatment.

According to residents, the federal government then deployed security forces in the area to intervene and stop further fighting.

The ongoing drought in the region has made water scarcer and increased the likelihood of fights breaking out for the little available vegetation for livestock.
