The United States of America has commended Somali National Army (SNA) for its continued fight against Al-Shabaab militia in Somalia.
On July 26, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin hailed the recent efforts by SNA forces in fighting the militants who continue to wreak havoc in the East African nation.
Austin specifically mentioned the recent airstrikes against Al-Shabaab.
In his briefing to the press, Austin said that the airstrikes are part of SNA’s increased efforts to neutralize the militants completely.
Austin made this statement while traveling with reports to Alaska’s Eielson Air Force Base.
“SNA, who are our partner forces in Somalia, have increased the operational tempo against Al-Shabaab in the recent days,” Austin said.
Those airstrikes, which took place on July 20 and July 23, were the result of collaboration between SNA and US Africa Command (AFRICOM).
