Ten suspected members of the notorious Al-Shabaab terrorist group were killed during an operation in Kenya’s Boni Forest.
Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldiers carried out the operation in Boni Forest, Lamu County on Friday, July 1.
KDF later released a statement explaining the situation.
In the statement, KDF indicated that tens of other terrorists escaped with injuries.
The Kenyan forces were then able to recover several weapons from the militants.
These included a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launcher, assault weapons, assorted ammunition, and personal effects.
Security sources indicate that the militants had planned to carry out an attack on the Lamu Port South Sudan Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) corridor.
