Somalia’s tally of COVID-19 cases has now reached 16,892 after the country’s Ministry of Health confirmed 105 new cases on August 23.
According to the health ministry, these were from the 1,976 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
Most of the new cases (60) were in Puntland. Banadir followed with 38 cases while Somaliland and Galmudug has five and two cases respectively.
The health ministry confirmed 64 recoveries, which pushes the number of people to have recovered from the deadly disease to 8,141.
Sadly, nine people lost their lives to take the tally of fatalities to 927.
