130 Somalis Evacuated from Uganda

On Tuesday, the Federal Government of Somalia announced the evacuation of 130 Somalis from Uganda.

The government said it realized that more Somalis are stranded in Uganda and other nations around the world unable to return home because of the suspension of international flights.

Somalia’s government suspended all international flights in March 2020 to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus around the country.

President Mohamed Farmaajo had instructed the government to repatriate Somali citizens stranded in foreign nations as part of the COVID-19 response plan.

Consequently, the government has evacuated more Somalis from various countries.
