133 Somalis Evacuated from Uganda

The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) has evacuated 133 Somalis from Uganda on Saturday.

With the new number of evacuees, the tally of those evacuated from Uganda has now increased to 350.

The Somalis had been stranded in Uganda for the last three months after Somalia suspended all domestic and international flights due to COVID-19 fears.

Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in Somalia, the government has repatriated 350 Somalis from Uganda to Mogadishu.

The fresh batch of evacuees is now in Mogadishu from whence they are scheduled to travel to their respective homes.

Majority of the evacuees were students pursuing further studies at various Ugandan universities.

Visitors, tourists, and Somali businesspeople were also in the group.
