Eighteen Al-Shabaab militants lost their lives when Somali National Army (SNA) attacked their base in Galgudud on Saturday.
The terrorists died in counterterrorism offensives in Budbud and Galcad on the afternoon of July 15.
They died in an operation carried out by Somali National Army (SNA) commandos.
Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Adala, the Director General of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, confirmed the incident.
“Several terrorists were killed and many others injured when our armed forces destroyed their networks in the region,” Al-Adala added.
The operation took place shortly before the government launches the second phase of counterterrorism operations against the Al-Shabaab militia.
