Two journalists who had been apprehended in Hargeisa for discussing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ethiopia and Somaliland have been released.
Somaliland authorities had initially arrested three local journalists for discussing the deal.
The arrest created plenty of headlines in Somalia and beyond.
A report from Somaliland Journalists Association (SOLJA) confirmed that two of the journalists are now free.
Those released are Ilyaas Abdinasir and Mohamed Abdi Abdillahi.
The third one – Mohamed Abdi Sheikh, who is also the owner of the MM Somali TV – remains in detention.
