Twenty-two people lost their lives when the remnants of an old bomb exploded in Lower Shabelle on Friday evening.
Local officials confirmed to the media that most of those killed in the explosion were children.
The incident took place in Murale, a village in Jannaalle.
Although it’s not clear how long the remnants have been in place, it’s worth mentioning that Somalia is riddled with landmines following years of violent clashes and terrorism.
