228 IPOs from AUSSOM Honoured in Mogadishu for Their Service

Today, 228 Individual Police Officers (IPOs) from the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) were honored for their exemplary service in advancing Somalia’s security and stability.

Acting Head of AUSSOM, Sivuyile Bam, praised the officers’ unwavering commitment to strengthening Somalia’s security architecture, elevating policing standards, and building trust within local communities.

Police Commissioner AIGP Hillary Sao Kanu recognized their vital contributions to the Somali Police Force (SPF), including infrastructure development and enhanced operational capacities through specialized training

The IPOs – from Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and Zambia – successfully concluded their one-year mission, providing mentorship, training, and strategic guidance to Somali police counterparts.

The ceremony was attended by AUSSOM Force Commander Lt. Gen. Sam Kavuma, senior police leadership, and the honored officers.
