A significant event in improving child health services in the Benadir region of Somalia took place on Sunday when several health workers completed a week-long training.
The completion of the 7-day Integrated Management of Neonatal & Childhood Illness (IMNCI) training by 30 health workers from 17 facilities highlights a collaborative effort to enhance the quality of care for children under five.
The support from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and Saudi Esports, in partnership with the Ministry of Health Somalia, underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing critical health challenges.
IMNCI training equips health workers with the skills to manage common childhood illnesses such as pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria, and malnutrition, which are major causes of morbidity and mortality in children under five in low-resource settings.
By strengthening the capacity of health workers, this initiative is expected to lead to better health outcomes for children in the region, reducing preventable deaths and improving overall child health.
Continued support and investment in such programs are essential to sustain and scale up these efforts, ensuring that more children have access to quality healthcare services.
