The Somali government has announced plans to award scholarships to 3,000 female students who excelled in their 12th-grade exams.
This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to promote education and gender equality in Somalia.
The scholarships are aimed at encouraging more young women to pursue higher education and contribute to the nation’s development.
Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir, the Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education, made this announcement on Tuesday.
Abdulkadir said this while announcing the results of the national 12th grade exams.
Zakari Hassan Mohamed Osman, a student from Benadir’s Al-Marwazi Deynile School, emerged tops in the national exams.
By providing these opportunities, the government hopes to empower female students and ensure that they have the resources needed to succeed academically and professionally.
The scholarships will be for students pursuing health and education courses in Somali universities.
