Thousands of Somali children have been identified with severe acute malnutrition.
The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed this on Wednesday.
According to the organization, the East African nation has 4,833 young children under the age of five years diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition.
This was discovered when 130 community health workers (CHWs) screened 33,767 children in different parts of the country.
The CHWs used the mid-upper arm circumference tape to determine the number of children malnourished.
Consequently, the children were referred for care at outpatient therapeutic and stabilization centers.
