Fifty-two women have graduated from a law degree sponsored by United Nations Development Fund (UNDP).
The women have been studying at the Puntland State University for their law degrees for the last four years.
As recently as 2012, Puntland had only one female lawyer out of 170 lawyers in the entire region.
Back in 2008, the semiautonomous region had no lawyer.
After graduation, the female lawyers have been making their contributions in the society by making it safer for other women.
Other partners such as Norway’s UN Mission in New York also funded the lawyers’ education.
