7.1 Million Somalis at Risk of High Levels of Acute Food Insecurity

More than 7.1 million Somalis are at risk of high levels of acute food insecurity in the next few months.

The Country Director of the Save the Children organization in Somalia delivered this shocking news during an interview with British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Somali Service.

Mohamud M. Hassan, the Save the Children’s Country Director for Somalia, spoke to BBC Somali Service on June 8.

Hassan confirmed that the ongoing drought in the East African nation is the worst in the last four decades.

He added his voice to the millions that have called upon the international community to intervene first before the situation worsens in Somalia.
