The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has declared that 7.7 million Somalis in the country need life-saving support.
OCHA published a report on the cost of inaction by Somali authorities and international partners.
Somalis are grappling with the effects of the worst drought in the last 40 years in the country.
This is happening immediately after the COVID-19 pandemic left the country’s agricultural and health sectors in dire conditions.
As per the recent OCHA report, around 6.1 million Somalis are already in acute need.
More depressingly, 2.9 million individuals in the country are currently displaced and have no hope of returning to their homes.
