Seven people were killed in Doonka clashes that pitted Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) troops against Al-Shabaab.
The heavy conflict took place in Doonka, an area that lies strategically between Afgoye and Wanlaweyn on February 2.
Security sources state that the clashes started when government troops encountered Al-Shabaab militants who were planning an attack against trucks transporting charcoal in the area.
Two drivers of the trucks were among the seven people who lost their lives in the Tuesday incident.
Furthermore, the militants reportedly overturned three charcoal trucks that attempted to flee from the scene.
