All Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) are required to register their contracts on the use of public properties with the Office of the Auditor General.
On September 2, Mohamed Ali Afgoi, the Auditor General, issued a directive to this effect to the heads of all public institutions in the country.
The Auditor General’s directive follows the recent attempt by Osman Dubbe, the Minister of Information, to lease land belonging to the Somali National Theater to private individuals.
On Thursday, Auditor General Ali canceled the national theater lease awarded to the private developers who wanted to set up a restaurant on the land.
He has now given heads of all public institutions a month to register all public properties with his office.
