An identified explosive device (IED) exploded in a car in Lasanod region killing the chief of Sool regional court.
The device was attached to the chief’s car.
The chief, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, seems to have been the victim of a killing mission that targeted him.
Hassan Mohamoud Warsame, the Governor of Lasanod District, announced the explosion and the killing that followed.
The security forces of Somaliland are investigating the matter, which occurred late on Monday afternoon. Thus far, no group has come out to claim responsibility for the murder.
For years, Somaliland has been a bastion of peace. It has enjoyed security and safety from the explosions and attacks that have bedeviled other Horn of Africa nations.
