A man driving a civilian car in the conflict-ridden Sagaan region died after unidentified gunmen shot him.
Reports indicate that the gunmen ambushed the Land Cruiser that the civilian was driving along the road that connects the two villages of Midigale and Awsane.
The car had traveled from El Dahir.
After ambushing the driver, the assailants then shot and killed him on the spot before stealing and driving off with his car.
Authorities identified the dead driver as Abdiwahab Awil. According to locals, the assailants then drove the stolen car into the countryside.
Sagaan has been the scene of a recent spike in killings, which are attributed to retaliatory attacks between different clans.
