A local Kismayo elder was presented in court to answer charges relating to his membership in Al-Shabaab.
Aden Gedi Mohamed appeared before a military court sitting in Kismayo this week.
Recently, security forces captured him after a fierce battle that left him nursing wounds. He was unable to flee unlike his accomplices.
Further, he stands accused of facilitating several attacks in the region on behalf of Al-Shabaab.
Somali courts are renowned for handing down punitive sentences to members of the terrorist group. The sentences range from several years in prison to death by execution.
