A well-known hospital in Mogadishu created history by performing the first cardiac surgery in the country.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan Training and Research Hospital performed Somalia’s first ever cardiac surgery on March 11, 2024.
The institution, which was once known as Digfeer Hospital, performed the procedure on a 74-year-old patient known as Abdullahi Jamac.
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kizilkaya led a seven-member team of expert medical professionals from Turkey in performing the angioplasty procedure.
