Abdelmoula Speaks on Situation in Somalia’s Diinsoor District

Adam Abdelmoula has spoken on the worsening situation in Diinsoor District, Southwest, Somalia.

Abdelmoula is the Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to Somalia.

He also serves as the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in the East African nation.

In the last few days, over 17,000 people have fled their homes in Diinsoor owing to the growing hostilities in the region.

The situation is worsened by the ongoing drought that has affected the entire nation.

Many of the displaced residents of Diinsoor have fled to Banadir, Gedo, Bay, and Baidoa.

Food insecurity has left close to 136,000 people facing humanitarian emergencies of biblical proportions.

Abdelmoula has added his voice to the growing calls for urgent humanitarian assistance from the government, other Somalis, and international partners.
