Abdirizak Meets with IGAD Ambassadors in the United States

Mohamed Abdirizak, Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with representatives of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in the United States.

Abdirizak’s meeting with the IGAD ambassadors took place in Washington DC on January 15.

The foreign affairs minister is in the United States on an official visit. During his visit, he is scheduled to hold several meetings.

Next week, he is expected to address the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and hold a meeting with Antonio Guterres, the United Nations Secretary General.

On Friday, he was able to meet with the IGAD diplomats at the Federal Republic of Somalia Embassy in the United States.

Abdirizak discussed several issues with the representatives.

He talked about ways and importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Somalia and IGAD member states.

They also discussed regional cooperation and the ongoing fiscal, security, and governance reforms that Somalia is making.
