Abdirahman Abdishakur, the Special Envoy for the Drought Response, met with humanitarian affairs ministers from all the regional states in Somalia.
The Special Envoy’s meeting with the regional ministers took place in Mogadishu on Saturday, June 11.
During the meeting, the leaders mostly centered their discussions around the ongoing emergency drought response in the country.
Somalia has been hit hard by the ongoing drought.
The drought has affected millions of people. Food shortage is the norm because of crop failure, lack of water, and deaths of animals.
Abdishakur urged the ministers to put more emphasis on strengthening the coordination of drought response in their respective regions.
